Take a Stand. Give us Choice. Give us a Strong Public Option!
Americans overwhelmingly support the right to choose. Americans should not be denied the right to choose between a private sector plan or a public plan option. The latest polls show 65% of Americans and 62% of doctors support the public option. Use the form below to add your organization's support for a robust public option!
Here's what a strong public option will do for you:
*Ensure your freedom of choice. Without the right to choose what kind of plan is best for you and your family, Americans will continue to be held hostage to the insurance industry.
*Control costs and increase accountability. By forcing the insurance industry to honestly compete in the marketplace, costs will come down.
*Provide access and affordability. A strong public option will mean more Americans have access to the health care options that meet their needs and that they can afford.
A strong public option needs to be:
*National, not different in every state.
*Available on day one, not connected to a trigger. A trigger is the amount of additional failure that legislators would require to see before implementing actual reform measures. In other words, the supporters of a trigger want to see even more Americans to go bankrupt due to medical debt or to die for lack of care before they are willing to do anything to fix it.
*Authorized to establish fair and realistic payment rates for doctors.
*Publicly accountable.
