Sound the Alarm! for Health Care Justice - April 4-6.
Three times as many Illinois congregations from beyond the Chicago Area have participated in Sound the Alarm! so far in 2008 than in 2007. The growing recognition of the need for health care reform was summed up by one participant who said, “It is essential for the State of Illinois to respect the dignity of all residents who deserve the health care that those who can afford it receive.”
Over 100 Sound the Alarm! participants used the event as an opportunity to send faxes to their legislators advocating for health care reform during the current leglative session. We cannot afford to wait another year to fix our broken health care system.
Summon your congregation to Sound the Alarm! on the first Sabbath of April 2008. Congregations across the state will join together in prayer and then “sound the alarm” with a horn, bell or Shofar sounding 18 times for the 1.8 million uninsured people in Illinois. Use this event to call on state legislators to make quality, affordable health care accessible to everyone in Illinois.
Planned for April 4-6, Sound the Alarm! offers many ways to participate: special prayers, sending postcards to legislators, raising resources and more!
