Health Care Justice Act
The Health Care Justice Act was passed in 2004, sponsored by then-State Senator Barack Obama and Representative (now State Senator) William Delgado. HCJA is a multi-step policy initiative to provide health care for all in Illinois by July 1, 2007. Among other provisions, the act created the Adequate Health Care Task Force (AHCTF). AHCTF was a 29-member, bipartisan task force that oversaw 19 public hearings and came to a concensus recommendation for how to ensure affordable, quality health care for all Illinoisans.
On January 18, 2007 the Adequate Health Care Task Force held their last meeting and formally issued their final recommendations. You can read the task force's final report by clicking here (pdf).
