CBHC Recieves Community Memorial Foundation Fundraising Award
More than $625,000 in new dollars have been raised by 14 community non-profits as a result of Community Memorial Foundation’s 2007 Annual Fund achievement awards.
These organizations were recognized at a reception on February 20th at the Butterfield Country Club in Oakbrook. These fourteen agencies were challenged by the Foundation to raise new or increased contributions from individual donors. Agency staff and board members were invited to participate in six workshops that outlined successful strategies for fundraising from individuals. Those who met the challenge received a matching grant of up to $10,000. A total of over $625,000 new dollars has been invested into community non-profits as a result of this program. Each participant received a framed award commemorating their success. The following organizations participated in the Annual Fund Achievement Awards program:

Campaign for Better Health Care

Guild for the Blind
Hamdard Center for Health and Human Services
LaGrange Memorial Hospital Foundation
Metropolitan Family Services DuPage
Plymouth Place
Positive Parenting DuPage
Ray Graham Association for People with Disabilities
Robert Crown Center for Health Education
Samaritan Interfaith Counseling Center
Teen Parent Connection
Washington Square of Hinsdale
Special Recognition Awards ($1,000) for outstanding performances in the program were also announced at the event. The award for the Largest Increase in Contributions to the Annual Fund Award (for an organization without development staff) went to Campaign for Better Health Care. Largest Increase in Contributions to the Annual Fund Award (for an organization with development staff) went to Plymouth Place; with Guild for the Blind winning an award for Largest Increase in number of Donors to the Annual Fund.
In its first twelve years, Community Memorial Foundation (CMF) has awarded more than $48 Million in grants to more than 190 organizations. The Foundation works with west suburban communities to measurably improve peoples’ health by promoting access to health care, encouraging community cohesiveness, strengthening families, fostering positive youth development and supporting older adults. In addition, it works with its nonprofit partners to increase their internal capacities to provide services.
