Health Care Justice Campaign Notebook
Despite the fact that rising health care costs consistently rank among the top concerns of Illinois taxpayers, the state legislature has been slow to pass serious health care reform. Many General Assembly members would prefer to do nothing about the health care crisis, claiming that health care reform is prohibitively expensive. What they fail to acknowledge is that doing nothing is the most expensive option of all.
There are several steps that you can take right now to help keep the taxpayers of Illinois from getting stuck with the growing costs of our broken health care system:
Become a volunteer: The Health Care Justice Campaign takes its strength from the work of our volunteers. If you would like to get involved, please fill out our online volunteer form.
Distribute flyers: No matter where you live in Illinois, you can help get the word out to your community. Download and print this handy flyer (pdf), which has a toll-free number that your neighbors can use to call their state legislators, as well as a fact sheet listing details of the Illinois Covered plan.
Write letters the editor: Let the media know that you demand health care justice in Illinois!
Call your legislators: If you don’t know the name of your senator or representative, or you need to look up their district number, you can find this information easily by visiting this page on the State Board of Elections site.
Send your legislators email: To find email addresses for your representative and senator, visit look here.
