Jim Duffett, Executive Director
Jim has done community organizing work around the issue of health care reform for 30 years. He has won numerous state and national awards for consumer victories at both the local, regional and statewide levels. He has also served on local and state-level health care task forces. The victories Jim is most proud of include: banning door-to-door and other types of solicitation by the insurance industry for “Medicaid Managed Care” plans; ending several Medicaid discrimination practices; enacting a consumer managed care bill of rights; enactment of ALL Kids and other expansions; and the passage of the Health Care Justice Act. Jim is currently working on the “Inform, Implement and Improve” initiative as it pertains to implementing national health care reform in Illinois. Numerous national media have interviewed Jim about CBHC’s efforts. He has testified on health care reform issues before Congress in Washington D.C. and the Illinois General Assembly in Springfield, and regularly participates on workshops held by national organizations.
Jim has a M.A. in International Affairs (International Political Economy) from the University of Pittsburgh, a B.A. from Kent State and a certificate of International United Nations Affairs from Kent State’s Geneva, Switzerland International Program.
Jim is married to Leslie Martin and has two sons, Zachary and Benjamin, and a step-daughter, Alicia.
